Smujji
Smujji truly embraces the best of Jamaican and US sounds by crafting magical music influenced from both sides combining a bold sonic strut with ear-tugging melodies, and lyrics fiery enough to set speakers alight. A combination of dancehall and pop, Smujji appeals to all audiences.
Born and raised in Clarendon, Jamaica, Smujji earned his nickname after stealing his friends girlfriend whilst at a youth club - “he was like ‘nah man, you’re smudgy, you messed up my program,’” - the name stuck and ‘Smujji’ was born..
Smujji hooked up with his old friend, respected UK artist Tubby T, at Stanley House studios, also the home of Othman/Jamdown Management. The word on Smujji inevitably got to Jamdown/Abood Music (who represent about 30 of Jamaica's top artists, producers amd writers as well as many top chart artists, writers amd producers in US and UK) who signed him up.
Smujji has sold over 100,000 albums worldwide. He has collaborated with Nick 'Fury' Loftin, producer of T.I., Young Jeezy and Lil Kim and rising dancehall superstar Busy Signal and dancehall diva Ce'Cile. He teamed up with FYA to record “Must Be Love” which became a Top 15 hit in the UK and will be released in the U.S. on Next Plateau in summer 2007.
