It was always said that Pop sells. But what about when pop is mixed with R&B, what do you consider that genre?

Alexis Keegan or better yet- A.K.- may have the blonde hair, hazel eyes and good looks but she is ready to provide the music industry with a blend of Pop and unique R&B versatility. “It is being able to see the real artist that I am. I have soul. I can make songs for people to dance to. I can craft songs about relationship situations,” A.K. says.

A.K. was born and raised within the suburb of Maplewood, NJ. She began focusing on her singing career at the tender age of 12 after receiving the tragic news that her dad was diagnosed with cancer. Singing and listening to music countless hours of the day helped relieve her from the stress of her father’s medical situation. During the last stages of his illness, A.K. serenaded her father with Mariah Carey's "Butterfly." It was his admiration of her vocal talent that led her to continue the singing path as a way to help others get through their everyday struggles.

In the 8th grade, A.K. formed a group, Sweet, and wrote her first song, “Just Look.” Branching off before high school, she hit the studio to record her first original solo song, “Dreamin.” A.K. finally realized how powerful her singing was while attending Columbia High School, alma Mata of Lauryn Hill. While at Columbia, she joined the MLK Gospel Choir and was chosen as the lead vocalist although she was the only white member. Despite being the only choir member not of color, there was never a racial barrier between A.K. and the rest of the choir. While there, she was accepted by everyone despite race, gender, age due to her vocal capability.

Her musical influences are Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin. People are already comparing A.K. to a younger version of Christina Aguilera with her powerful voice. She is always up for a challenge and proves her determination. From putting in 12 hours a day in the studio, she proves that hard work pays off. In 2007, A.K. won first place in the R&B genre at "Faces in the Crowd" in New York City.

From singing her heart to the world to expressing herself through her dance moves, A.K. is a well-rounded performer with a true essence of Pop with a strong undeniable R&B sound.
